The Opportunity

We're seeking an exceptional Head of PMO to lead our Project Management Office during this exciting phase of transformation. This is a unique opportunity to shape project delivery standards and governance frameworks in a high-growth, private equity-backed technology business.

You'll establish the PMO function as a centre of excellence, driving consistency across both transformation initiatives and business-as-usual programmes whilst directly managing critical projects that support our growth ambitions.

The Role

As Head of PMO, you will:

Leadership & Governance

  • Establish and maintain PMO standards, methodologies, and best practices across the organisation
  • Design and implement governance frameworks ensuring projects deliver to time, budget, and scope
  • Lead portfolio reporting and performance metrics to senior stakeholders
  • Provide delivery assurance through stage gates, risk management, and quality reviews

Project Delivery

  • Directly project manage multiple BAU initiatives simultaneously from initiation through closure
  • Line manage a team of Project Managers supporting BAU and transformation portfolios
  • Ensure effective resource allocation and capacity planning across programmes
  • Manage interdependencies between projects and resolve conflicts

Standards & Process

  • Define project lifecycle standards, templates, and tools
  • Drive continuous improvement of PMO processes and practices
  • Establish project health checks and intervention protocols
  • Champion project management capability development across the organisation

Stakeholder Management

  • Report to executive leadership on portfolio health and risks
  • Collaborate with programme leads to align delivery approaches
  • Build strong relationships with business area leads and delivery teams
What You'll Need

Essential:

  • Proven experience leading a PMO function
  • Strong track record delivering complex projects on time and to budget
  • Experience managing Project Managers and developing team capability
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels
  • Experience establishing governance frameworks and reporting structures
  • Industry experience within IT Services or Telecoms sector

Desirable:

  • PMO or project management professional qualification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, MSP)
  • Experience in transformation programmes within private equity-backed businesses
  • Background working in high-growth, scaling environments
