Altus Partners is delighted to be partnered with an acquisitive wealth management business in the search for a Head of Operational Risk. This is a newly created role following private equity investment. The role will be pivotal in shaping the risk management landscape over the next 12 months and driving the company's finance strategy as it prepares for its next transaction. The environment is fast-moving and highly acquisitive, with a potential for succession to CRO within 3-5 years.
As Head of Operational Risk, you will work closely with the Group CRO to support the advice business and group oversight, including the investment management segment. You will serve as a key contact for the board and executive team. Your strategic insight and financial expertise will be crucial in enhancing the company's financial performance, ensuring compliance, and identifying growth opportunities.
THE ROLE:- Developing and enhancing risk reporting and MI, providing insights to the CRO, Executive, and Board Committees.
- Owning the development and maintenance of the Risk Management system, including the Framework, policies, and risk register.
- Maintaining and updating the Key Risk Register regularly.
- Identifying opportunities to improve risk management through system and process enhancements.
- Reviewing transformation project plans and progress.
- Providing oversight, challenge, and assurance on key operational risks.
- Managing regulatory relationships and compliance, including escalation of non-compliance, horizon scanning, and preparing for new regulations.
- Understanding the political landscape across Advice & Investment businesses to become a key contact.
- Becoming the authority on non-advice related compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in risk management within financial services, ideally Banking, PLCs, or Wealth Management.
- Industry knowledge and awareness of product/regulatory developments.
- Strong experience within an FCA-regulated environment.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience supporting a second line of defense during growth phases.
- Experience presenting and representing at the executive and Board levels.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic skills.
