Head of MRV & Impact

Location: UK (within commuting distance to London), Netherlands, or Spain

About our client

Our client is committed to making nature restoration investable by developing large-scale ecosystem restoration projects grounded in rewilding principles. These projects are financed through the sale of high-quality, high-integrity carbon and nature credits. Their project pipeline is robust and diverse, spanning all stages of development-from feasibility assessments and land agreements to credit creation and buyer contracting. We collaborate with seasoned local partners who bring deep expertise in on-the-ground restoration delivery.

The Role

We are seeking a Head of Impact & MRV to play a pivotal leadership role. This individual will shape and drive their restoration strategy, oversee Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems, and manage data for both current and future projects. A key part of this role is identifying priority restoration opportunities across Europe and strengthening the scientific foundations of their planning and MRV frameworks.

This position involves close coordination with their field implementation partners and the team, as well as external service providers, to continuously improve their MRV system. The scope includes working across diverse habitats and supporting both carbon and nature credit initiatives.

The Head of Impact & MRV reports to the Head of Finance and Operations, leads the MRV and data team (3 FTE), and collaborates closely with the credit development team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the company's restoration strategy, identifying priority landscapes and suitable implementation partners, and ensuring nature-positive outcomes in all ongoing projects.
  • Align MRV and restoration efforts with carbon and nature credit development, ensuring consistency across emerging standards and methodologies.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the company's MRV system, including ex-ante impact modelling, indicator selection, monitoring campaign design, and protocol improvement across the project portfolio.
  • Manage the MRV and data team, overseeing nature and carbon impact modelling and reporting.
  • Own and maintain the MRV dashboard and all associated data systems.

Candidate Profile: Expertise and Experience

  • Strong alignment with the company's mission and values.
  • Deep commitment to impactful nature restoration, combined with a commercial and strategic mindset.
  • Master's degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
  • Robust ecological expertise across a variety of European habitats (e.g., peatlands, forests, mosaics).
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering large-scale restoration projects.
  • Proficient in ecological modelling and analysis systems.
  • Familiarity with the carbon and nature credit markets is an asset.
  • A practical, hands-on leader who is motivated, proactive, and results-driven.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific data into actionable strategies.

Additional Requirements

  • Language: Fluent English (spoken and written).
  • Personal Attributes: Strong communication and collaboration skills; adaptable, self-starter with a focus on delivery and impact; team-oriented and efficient.
