This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a growing discipline and define the future of microbiology within one of the UK's leading veterinary diagnostic providers.As part of our continued growth, Medivet Labs is supporting more and more customers through high quality diagnostic testing. This role plays a critical part in delivering reliable, high quality diagnostics supported by outstanding service and strong professional relationships. You will be central to ensuring that our expanding customer base continues to receive a service that is accurate, timely, and clinically meaningful. What You'll Be Doing: Providing strategic leadership for the microbiology department, setting direction and driving continuous improvement. Working hands on with a wide range of microbiological techniques to support accurate, timely diagnostics. Collaborating closely with clinicians, pathologists, and laboratory teams to ensure our service meets the needs of patients and practices. Developing and implementing robust quality systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Leading innovation in diagnostic methods, antimicrobial stewardship, and emerging technologies. Supporting and mentoring colleagues, fostering a culture of scientific curiosity, teamwork, and professional growth. What you'll bring: Whether your background is in veterinary or human microbiology, you'll have: Strong technical expertise across bacteriology and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Proven experience in a diagnostic or clinical microbiology setting. Confidence in leading teams, shaping processes, and driving service development. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate microbiological findings into clinically meaningful insights. A passion for improving patient outcomes through high quality diagnostics.
