We areseekingan experienced andforward thinkinglegal leader to head our Legal Services team and act as Deputy Monitoring Officer. This is ahigh profilerole overseeing specialist legal functions across the Council and ensuringhigh standardsof governance,assuranceand compliance.
Key responsibilities include:- Leading, shaping and developing specialist legal teams across all service areas.
- Supporting the Monitoring Officer and acting in their capacity whenrequired.
- Providing authoritative advice on complex legal, governance and regulatory issues.
- Driving improvements to governance, assurance and constitutional frameworks.
- Qualified solicitor,barristeror CILEX professional with a current practising certificate.
- Extensive senior level experience within public sector legal services.
- Strong knowledge of governance, statutory compliance and constitutional matters.
- Excellent communication skills with sound political awareness and the ability to build strong relationships with elected members and senior stakeholders.
- This post is politically restricted.
- The role involves regular handling of confidential and sensitive information.
