About The Role

Leading the Learning and Development function at Capital, you will be strategic, forwarding thinking with the ability to shape and lead our progressive Learning & Development plan. Working collaboratively with senior leaders you will ensure your team designs and delivers innovative learning initiatives that align with our business objectives and uphold professional excellence. Anticipating the evolving skills landscape from technical know-how and advisory capabilities to digital transformation and AI integration. Your work, through the L&D team, will enhance the colleague experience, ensuring our people are future ready and empowered to thrive in a rapidly changing legal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading the Function

  • Leading the L&D function and delivery of the L&D plan.
  • Working with key stakeholders to develop and deliver the firms strategy to ensure people continuously develop throughout their careers at Capital in a changing regulatory and technological landscape.
  • Ensuring a robust L&D infrastructure including efficient use of L&D technology within the team.
  • Influencing senior leaders at all levels to adopt and support effective approaches to learning and development

Strategic Integration of AI & Legal Tech

  • Championing the adoption of legal-specific technologies, with a strong focus on AI, across all practice areas.
  • Assisting the AI group by researching and evaluating new and emerging technologies that enhance legal service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Designing & delivering impactful workshops introducing new technology (including AI tool adoption) across the firm.
  • Facilitate the integration and support of tech solutions through the learning and development function.
  • Working closely with the Head of IT and Partners on the AI group in identifying opportunities for tech-driven improvements and changes to ways of working.

Training & Capability Building

  • Overseeing the design and delivery of management and leadership development programmes that enhance managerial effectiveness and support the growth of current and future leaders.
  • Researching the latest developments in learning delivery and legal technology to ensure we are aware of changing landscapes and best practice.
  • Overseeing the L&D Team's development and maintenance of learning materials and reference guides for end users, ensuring content is engaging, kept up-to-date and relevant.
  • Leading a communication strategy that ensures widespread awareness of L&D activities and positive engagement.

Research & Innovation

  • Researching the latest developments in learning delivery and legal technology to ensure we are aware of changing landscapes and best practice.

Compliance & Ethics

  • Overseeing the L&D team to ensure effective delivery and monitoring of all training in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring that the firm is trained and educated on the use of AI tools and that the trained content complies with legal and ethical standards.

What We're Looking For:

  • Legal qualification or experience in the legal profession with ability to understand legal concepts and practice areas.
  • Significant experience in leading an L&D function in a fast-paced environment with a proven track record of embracing technology and change.
  • People focused and influential in encouraging career growth.
  • Project management / change management experience
  • Experience / Strong interest in AI and legal tech platforms
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, customer focused and commercially aware
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Self-starter with a hands-on approach, impressive work ethic, and commitment to delivering results and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, engaging and influencing at all levels, both one on one and in group delivery.
