How will this person be a Changemaker?You will raise standards in inclusive practice across Sunderland College and Hartlepool Sixth Form. You will strengthen the quality and consistency of learning support, improve outcomes for students with SEND, and build staff confidence through high quality training. You will shape systems and funding practice so resources reach the students who need them most. Your leadership will drive measurable improvements in achievement, progression, and student experience.
About the RoleThis senior leadership role oversees Learning Support and inclusive practice across the south region. You will lead strategy and delivery for SEND support, wellbeing, and inclusion, ensuring provision meets statutory duties and aligns with organisational priorities.
This is a key role in driving improvement and consistency across multiple sites. You will work closely with curriculum leaders and central teams to embed inclusive practice in teaching and learning.
You will access ongoing professional development, leadership networks, and opportunities to contribute to regional and group wide strategy. You will work with student data systems, EHCP processes, and SEND funding frameworks to strengthen impact and compliance.
Role Responsibilities- Lead and manage Learning Support teams across Sunderland College and Hartlepool Sixth Form, setting clear expectations and driving high performance
- Oversee identification, assessment, and review processes for students with SEND, including EHCP implementation
- Manage SEND funding claims, audits, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Design and deliver high quality SEND and inclusive practice training for staff
- Monitor student progress and support interventions to improve achievement and progression
- Work with senior leaders to embed inclusive practice within curriculum planning and quality improvement
- Degree level qualification or equivalent professional experience
- Recognised SEND qualification or substantial accredited SEND training
- Evidence of continued professional development in SEND or inclusive practice
- Strong and up to date knowledge of SEND legislation, guidance, and best practice
- Detailed understanding of high needs and other SEND funding streams
- Proven experience leading and managing teams, including performance management
- Experience delivering training to a range of staff audiences
- Experience developing inclusive support strategies that improve student outcomes
- Strong data analysis skills to inform decision making and measure impact
- Experience working across multiple sites or within a regional structure
- Experience of leading quality improvement initiatives in education
- Knowledge of assistive technologies to support learning
- Experience working with external agencies and local authorities
