Job Description
What's the role?

As the Head of Global Payroll, you will be responsible for coordinating payroll operations across multiple countries and regions. This involves executing a global payroll strategy, ensuring compliance with international payroll regulations, supporting external payroll vendor management, and optimizing payroll processes. The position requires strong leadership (both business and people), extensive knowledge of global payroll practices, and the ability to navigate complex payroll landscapes.

This full-time position is available as of October 2025.

The role can be based in Manchester, Paris, or Prague. Please state your preferred location in your application.

What does the role involve?

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Developing and implementing a global payroll strategy aligned with business objectives; supporting the establishment of a global payroll operating model with global business service/shared services.
  2. Vendor Management: Managing relationships with external payroll providers to ensure seamless service delivery.
  3. Compliance & Regulations: Ensuring adherence to international payroll laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
  4. Stakeholder Collaboration: Working closely with HR, finance, legal, and IT teams to streamline payroll processes.
  5. Project Management & Process Optimization: Driving efficiency, accuracy, and standardization in payroll operations across all regions.
  6. Risk Management: Managing payroll controls, audits, and compliance checks effectively.
  7. Technology & Innovation: Participating in payroll system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives.
  8. Employee Experience: Ensuring operational excellence to deliver a consistent people experience.
  9. Forecast Management: Monitoring and regulating global payroll spend, ensuring operational efficiency and the integration of new technology.
  10. People Leadership: Managing talent development, defining career paths for payroll practitioners.

What you need is:
  • Proven experience in global payroll leadership roles, including vendor management and project management. Experience with setting up and managing payroll for shared service centers is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of international payroll regulations and compliance.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to coordinate and execute a global payroll strategy.
  • Fluent English required; additional languages are an advantage.
