Head of Finance, Research and Education Funding -Paediatric Academic Health Science Center.

Purpose of the Role

To provide strategic financial leadership and operational oversight for the Paediatric Academic Health Science Center (PAHSC), ensuring robust financial governance across clinical, academic and research activities. The postholder will lead financial planning, budgeting, reporting and compliance while supporting the Center's strategic objectives through effective management of research funding, academic partnerships and grant income.

Purpose of the Role

To provide strategic financial leadership and operational oversight for the Paediatric Academic Health Science Center (PAHSC), ensuring robust financial governance across clinical, academic and research activities. The postholder will lead financial planning, budgeting, reporting and compliance while supporting the Center's strategic objectives through effective management of research funding, academic partnerships and grant income. Working closely with the executive leadership, clinical directors, academic partners and research & education teams, the role will ensure the financial sustainability of the PAHSC and support the delivery of a high-class paediatric research, innovation and patient care.

Essential Criteria

• Fully qualified accountant(ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).


• 7 years of progressive experience in a relevant finance function.


• Significant senior level financial management experience in a complex organisation.


• Proven experience in the preparation and management of monthly and annual financial accounts.


• Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.


• Experience of financial governance, audit risk management and internal financial controls,


• Experience of working collaboratively with senior leaders and multidisciplinary stakeholders.


• Experience of developing and implementing financial policies procedures and process improvement.


• Comprehensive knowledge of financial accounting standards, financial management principles and governance requirements.


• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.


• Strong knowledge of accounting software (SAP experience advantageous).


• Excellent communication skills.


• Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.


• Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to work collaboratively and collegiately with colleagues in Research, Education and Finance and across CHI.
