Head of Finance Europe

Head of Finance Europe required for Galway based manufacturing company.

Our client is currently recruiting for an experienced and commercially minded finance leader to lead their Finance function across Europe.

The Head of Finance Europe will have overall responsibility for financial leadership, performance management and finance operations across the European business. Working closely with the European leadership team and Group Finance, the role will drive profitable growth, cash generation, financial discipline and organisational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities Business Partnership and Value Creation

• Serve as a trusted finance partner to commercial, operational, and functional leaders across Europe.
• Support business growth through financial insight, strategic thinking, and data-driven decision making.
• Provide challenge and support to business leaders on pricing, investments, resource allocation, and growth initiatives.
• Drive accountability through performance management, KPI tracking, and business reviews.

Profitability, Cash Flow and Working Capital Management

• Drive initiatives to improve profitability, gross margin, cash generation, and working capital performance.
• Lead analysis of product profitability, customer profitability, pricing effectiveness, and operational performance.
• Improve visibility and management of inventory, receivables, and cash flow across Europe.
• Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams to improve operational and financial performance.

Financial Planning and Performance Management

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes for European operations.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful financial reporting and business performance analysis.
• Monitor performance and proactively identify risks and opportunities.
• Support strategic planning and execution across the European region.

Leadership and Organisation Development

• Lead finance teams in Ireland, and across various European entities.
• Build a high-performing finance organisation focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Foster strong cross-functional cooperation between finance and business teams.

Governance and Compliance

• Ensure appropriate financial governance, controls, and reporting processes are maintained across European operations.
• Oversee statutory reporting, audit, tax, and regulatory compliance activities in partnership with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and corporate requirements.

Key Requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with substantial post-qualification finance leadership experience.
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
• Significant senior finance leadership experience in a multinational manufacturing environment ideally medical device, life sciences, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
• Experience building, developing and leading high-performing finance teams across multiple countries
• Experience managing finance operations across multiple European countries.
• Experience supporting a rapidly growing or transforming business environment.
• Proven experience partnering effectively with commercial, operational, and functional leaders.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, profitability management, and working capital optimisation.
• Demonstrated success leading teams across multiple locations or countries.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions, cultures, and levels of the organisation.
• Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and evolving business environment.
• Willingness to travel within Europe as required.
