Job Description

Job Summary

The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the organisation's finance function and ensuring robust financial management, governance and control. The role provides strategic financial leadership, supports executive decision-making and ensures the organisation's financial sustainability and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop and manage the finance function, ensuring high standards of performance and professionalism
  • Develop and implement the organisation's financial strategy in line with business objectives
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning processes
  • Produce timely and accurate management accounts, statutory accounts and financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Manage cash flow, treasury activities and funding arrangements
  • Lead the annual audit process and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and advisers
  • Provide financial insight, analysis and recommendations to the Board and senior leadership team
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities, implementing appropriate controls and mitigation strategies
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, processes and internal controls
  • Support business growth initiatives, investment appraisals and strategic projects
  • May require additional hours during key reporting, audit and planning cycles
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline
  • Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Significant senior-level experience in finance leadership roles
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and financial management
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders, Boards and external partners
