Head of estates - NHS

We are seeking a head of estates to work within a healthcare environment. You will be responsible for leading a team of electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure the safety of the buildings within the hospital.

• Lead a team of electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure the safety and functionality of hospital buildings.
• Manage the PPM programme and respond to reactive maintenance needs as they arise.
• Manage mechanical systems (decontamination, heating, ventilation, water, lifts, fuel storage) and electrical systems (electrical systems, security alarms, fixed engineering plants).
• Develop and commission essential training for estates colleagues, in collaboration with the Training Department, ensuring a balanced, appropriately trained workforce that operates in compliance with policies and procedures.
• Plan and coordinate activities related to large and complex estates and facilities issues, resolving conflicts as needed.
• Ensure all statutory and other risks related to the built environment are managed, advising on risks and strategic direction.
• Ensure controls assurance for estates, maintenance, fire, waste and environmental issues.

• Qualifications in engineering, building or surveying, along with a mechanical or electrical qualification.
• Environmental management experience.
• Health and safety legislation experience, including COSHH.
• Experience of engineering services.
• Able to manage strict budgets to ensure the expenditure of the department is managed effectively.

This will be a temporary to permanent role via Gap Personnel.
