LOCATION: Glasgow
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Department management fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- Business development and client relationship management to:
- Identify new business opportunities and areas for growth
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of work for the department
- Proposal coordination and delivery, including:
- Preparation and coordination of high-quality proposals considering technical scope, resource availability and budgets
- Preparation and coordination of Framework agreements with key clients
- Line management and staff development, including:
- Leading, mentoring, and development of consultants in the department
- Recruitment and training to ensure the department has the skills to deliver projects
- Project leadership:
- Conduct technical works leading to the successful completion of projects
- Oversee and manage complex consulting projects from inception to completion
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and within-budget delivery
- Strategic planning and development, including:
- Staying abreast of industry trends and developments
- Feeding this into the annual team business plan
- Knowledge sharing and thought leadership
- Representing the department, team and company at conferences, seminars, and networking events
REQUIREMENTS
Essential requirements include:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, or other relevant discipline.
- 8+ years of experience working in the regulated energy industry.
- Prior experience of working in a consultancy environment.
- Experience of network modelling and power systems analysis.
- Experienced using power system design software.
- Proven track record in leading and managing technical teams of 10+ people.
- Management of large engineering projects.
- Commercial awareness of consultancy projects, including setting and adhering to project budgets, scrutiny and understanding of contractual obligations, and identification and mitigation of commercial risks.
- Experience in business development and client facing activities.
- Ability to engage with clients, forming long term and mutually beneficial relationships.
- Has or is working towards Chartered status.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to demonstrate a drive to deliver high quality work.
- Adaptability and problem-solving abilities.
- Proactive and solution orientated with strong attention to detail.
- Good time management and prioritisation.
- An ability to understand and explain abstract concepts in a clear way to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Good knowledge of the continuous changes in codes and standards.
THE POSITION
TNEI's Energy Networks team assists network companies, governments and regulators with specialist studies in network planning and design, data analysis, and the development of innovative planning tools and services.
We are looking for a full-time Head of Networks with technical expertise in power system planning and analysis, with a solid understanding of the GB power system. This role is suited to an experienced power systems engineer with management experience who is keen to lead a growing team or circa 20 ambitious engineers working to provide power systems services in the ever-evolving utility sector.
