Head of Capacity Solutions - Job Description Job Family Grouping: AXIS Capacity Solutions - A new business unit initially reporting to Vince Tizzio, President and CEO Job Family: Underwriting Leadership How does this role contribute to our collective success?

AXIS is seeking a Head of Capacity Solutions to lead a new business unit, focussed on multi-line portfolio business via brokers and MGAs. This business will operate under the direction of the AXIS President and CEO, and be responsible for successfully assessing, onboarding, and managing multi-line portfolio business, whilst maximising the potential returns for AXIS. The selected candidate will lead the segment and be responsible for the end-to-end success of the business and operating model. This segment will be supported in its execution by a virtual team from across AXIS, including the CUO Office, Operations and Distribution.

What will you do in this role?
  • Develop the business strategy and be responsible for its successful implementation.
  • Lead prospecting for new multi-line portfolio opportunities with Brokers and MGAs.
  • Overall responsibility for deal structuring, appraisal and execution.
  • Develop the capital (cession) strategy, including prospecting for long-term capital providers, and capital structuring.
  • Work with the CUO office to determine the optimal portfolio shape, mitigate clash, and seek to add diversification to the wider enterprise portfolio.
  • Foster and manage the relationship with capital providers, distribution, and underwriting partners.
  • Build and manage the AXIS Capacity Solutions team and develop a market leading capability.
  • Partner with underwriting subject matter experts in the development and appraisal of new opportunities.
  • Chair the Deal Committee which has shared responsibility for the approval of multi-line portfolio opportunities to the AXIS Group.
  • Work with all functional departments to ensure an efficient operating model for Multi-line portfolio business

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

Successful Candidate Profile:
  • At least 10 years of experience in a commercial or technical role in commercial lines (re)insurance.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a highly analytical subject.
  • Professional experience in (re)insurance industry performance and/or governance management role(s)
  • Experience in building strong and effective relationships with colleagues and leadership with a proven ability to win confidence of business partners and influence outcomes.
  • Experience in efficient deal structuring and portfolio assessment.
  • Experience in and perspective on best practice operating models, governance and business unit performance frameworks.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to all stakeholders.
  • Ability to execute while partnering effectively with Operations, Technology, Claims and CUO functions.
  • Ability to plan effectively and prioritise workload.
  • Proven leadership skills, including developing and managing high performing teams.
