We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef to lead the kitchen team at a well-established and popular restaurant in the heart of Galway. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled chef with a passion for exceptional food and leadership to oversee the kitchen operations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
About the RoleAs Head Chef, you will take full responsibility for kitchen operations, menu development, and leading the team to deliver outstanding food and service. You will work with the freshest, locally sourced ingredients to create a diverse and modern menu that blends classic and contemporary brasserie-style dishes. You'll lead by example, ensuring a high standard of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring smooth operations and efficient service
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation, upholding the restaurant's standards of quality
- Develop seasonal menus and specials featuring Galway's best local produce
- Ensure compliance with kitchen hygiene, food safety, and health & safety regulations
- Manage stock levels, ordering, and reduce food waste to control costs and improve profitability
- Mentor and train junior kitchen staff, providing opportunities for their growth and development
- Ensure the kitchen is well organized and operational during busy service periods
- Collaborate with front of house staff to deliver a seamless and outstanding dining experience
- Manage kitchen budgets, food costs, and waste to ensure efficient operations
- Proven experience as a Head Chef, ideally in a high volume or brasserie style environment
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a team effectively
- A passion for cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients and creating innovative yet accessible dishes
- Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen health & safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, maintaining high food quality standards
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both kitchen and front of house teams
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during busy service periods
- €60,000 to €70,000 per year, depending on experience
