Job Description

The Head Chef position in Bath oversees the culinary operation for a luxury wellness retreat. This permanent, full-time role commands a salary up to £40,000 with extensive benefits. You will lead the kitchen team, designing and delivering a nutrition-focused menu that aligns with the estate's health and wellbeing ethos. Working patterns may include weekends and evenings to support the retreat's schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Culinary Leadership
    • Oversee all kitchen operations, including breakfast, lunch, supper and retreat programmes.
    • Design and deliver innovative, nutrient-dense menus using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.
    • Ensure all dishes align with a wellness-focused food philosophy.
    • Maintain exceptional standards of taste, presentation, and consistency.
  • Menu Development and Nutrition
    • Collaborate with nutritionists and wellness professionals to create functional menus.
    • Develop and implement seasonal menu rotations.
    • Stay informed on trends in functional nutrition, metabolic health and sustainable food systems.
  • Kitchen Management
    • Lead, train and develop the kitchen team.
    • Manage rotas, recruitment and performance.
    • Control food costs, reduce waste and oversee stock management.
    • Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene and health and safety standards.
  • Guest Experience
    • Engage with guests around menu concepts and dietary needs.
    • Support workshops, events and wellness retreats.
    • Deliver a personalised, high-end hospitality experience.
About You
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef or Senior Sous Chef within luxury hospitality, boutique hotels, wellness retreats or health-focused restaurants.
  • Strong understanding of nutrition-led cooking and specialist dietary requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and organisational skills.
  • Experience with menu costing and kitchen financials.
  • Food Safety/Hygiene certification.
  • Desirable: Background in functional nutrition or wellness cuisine.
  • Experience working alongside nutritionists or wellness practitioners.
  • Passion for sustainability and ethical sourcing.
