As the Head Barista at Mettricks, you play a vital role beyond crafting exceptional coffee. You're key to fostering a world-class team and inspiring true coffee artisans. HEAD BARISTA EXPECTATIONS
_As part of this role we expect you to:_
- Team Development: Take the lead in developing and training the Barista team, transforming them into a world-class group of coffee enthusiasts. Encourage continuous learning and skill development.
- Passion for Coffee: Infuse your team with your genuine passion for coffee, ensuring they understand and appreciate the intricacies of each cup. Your commitment goes beyond just making coffee; it's about creating an experience.
- Brand Drink Standards: Uphold and enforce brand drink standards, ensuring that every cup meets the highest quality, from milk texture and shots to steep times and latte art.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest standards for reliability and consistency. Regularly calibrate equipment in line with company specifications and oversee shot checks.
- Hot Drinks Service Standards: Oversee the Barista team to consistently deliver the Mettricks hot drink service standards.
- Stock Management: Diligently maintain stock levels to guarantee availability.
HEAD BARISTA RESPONSIBILITIES
Building a World-Class Team
- _Champion the development and training of the Barista team, maintaining detailed records through training checklists, and collaborating with the GM/Head of Coffee on individual progress._
- _Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the team, ensuring they stay abreast of industry trends and innovations._
- _Actively engage in recruitment processes, identifying and attracting talent to build and sustain a world-class Barista team_
On the Bar
- _Day-to-Day Operations: Organize and control the working process on the bar to create the best possible customer experience and achieve agreed-upon wait times for drinks._
- _Lead the team on the shop floor daily, setting and upholding expectations for the Barista team._
- _Minimize wastage of all products through effective supervision and accurate recording of wastage on shift._
- _Maintain beverage quality according to standards set by the Head of Coffee._
- _Ensure upkeep of bar equipment, organizing regular cleaning and maintenance._
- _Ensure completion of weekly and daily tasks, including opening/closing procedures and checklists._
- _Maintain complete cleanliness and order on the shop floor._
General
- _Lead and inspire through your actions, words, and behaviour._
- _Act professionally at all times, representing Mettrick values on the shop floor and within the larger coffee community._
- _Welcome and connect with every customer, fostering a sense of community and care._
- _Evaluate systems and workflow, suggesting improvements to the shop GM/Head of Coffee._
- _Follow health and safety guidelines and regulations at all times._
_The success of each shift relies on your ability to react to the flow of customers, organise your bar, and prioritise workflow without compromising quality. This involves monitoring queues and customer waits, maintaining constant communication with the till staff, and providing professional and friendly coffee knowledge and resources to customers. The ability to stay calm and focused under pressure, extract the best from your team, and thrive in a busy atmosphere is crucial to your success._
