You will be highly self-motivated, confident working autonomously, and committed to delivering engaging, high-quality learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver a Hair & Beauty curriculum for Post-16 learners
  • Play a key role in shaping and developing the programme as the provision grows
  • Plan, deliver, and assess learning in line with learner needs and progression pathways
  • Monitor learner progress, attendance, achievement, and behaviour
  • Create and maintain a safe, professional, and well organised learning environment
  • Manage equipment, products, and resources in line with Health & Safety standards
  • Act as a personal tutor, supporting learners' academic, social, and emotional development
  • Set targets and provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Build links with local salons, employers, and training providers to enhance learner outcomes
  • Complete all required documentation and learner records accurately
  • Engage in continuous professional development and mandatory training
  • Uphold EdStart policies, including Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, and Health & Safety

Qualifications & Experience

  • AET / Cert Ed / PGCE / PTTLS or relevant teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards)
  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in Hair & Beauty or significant industry experience
  • English and Maths at Level 2 or above
  • Verifiable occupational experience within the Hair & Beauty industry
  • Experience working with Post-16 learners, SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision (desirable)

Skills & Personal Qualities

  • Strong subject knowledge within Hair & Beauty
  • Confident classroom and behaviour management
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with learners
  • Flexible, proactive, and solution focused approach
  • Comfortable working within a new and developing provision
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Passionate about learner progression and employability
