Under the direction of the Program Director, the Program Coach plans and teaches competitive gymnastics to participants ages 5 through 12. The Program Coach is responsible for developing the fundamental competitive tracks for the compulsory team program and serves as liaison between the director and the competitive team staff, dispersing group communications.
Essential Functions / Job Duties- Develop and plan age appropriate gymnastics for YMCA participants.
- Develop the pre team and Level 1 competitive team program to ensure strong fundamentals that promote growth within the Junior Olympic Competitive Team.
- Plan, supervise and implement programs in accordance with policies, procedures, philosophy, and core values of the YMCA.
- Demonstrate, model and gear program to the needs of individual children with concerns for their interests, disabilities, special talents, and developmentally appropriate activities.
- Ensure that the arrangement, appearance, decor, and environment of the classroom are conducive to learning.
- Maintain excellent communication with parents regarding youth sports, progress, achievements and/or concerns.
- Attend staff meetings and program events.
- Participate in ongoing professional development training and attend coach meetings as required by the Program Director.
- Work closely to train and help volunteers.
- Create and implement Junior Olympic Competitive Policies and Procedures (Gymnastics Agreement).
- Coordinate payments for the team program, including but not limited to team gymnastics tuition, competitions, and other fees related to the Junior Olympic team program.
- Assist with other recreational gymnastics duties as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

- Innate ability to develop and motivate staff by setting an example, coaching, and mentoring them.
- Emotionally mature, able to initiate, conduct and navigate difficult conversations with individuals at all levels.
- Comfortable with public speaking.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year experience teaching youth sports related to gymnastics for children.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
- State approved CPR/First Aid/AED certification must be current, or obtained within 90 days of employment.
- Bilingual - English and Spanish - a plus.
