Overview

Group Entrance Officer - Permanent Full-Time role

Location: Science Museum

Hours: 5 days a week

Pay: £13.85 hourly rate

Role Summary

Join Our Team as a Security Officer! We are seeking a vigilant and dedicated professional to help maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and assets. You will monitor premises, conduct patrols, respond to incidents, and ensure security protocols are upheld. If you have strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle situations calmly and professionally, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities
  • Welcoming staff and visitors and creating a safe, professional atmosphere
  • Conducting regular patrols and monitoring premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism
  • Monitoring access points, CCTV, and handling security procedures
  • Responding promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, taking appropriate action as needed
  • Completing detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any security concerns
  • Assisting in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support if required
  • Adapting to different client sites - no two days are the same
  • Responding calmly and confidently to incidents or concerns
  • Working as part of a diverse, supportive team

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Current DS SIA Licence
  • First Aid
  • Proven experience in a security role or similar position
  • Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and respond to security threats
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and authorities
  • Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
Desirable
  • Completion of ACT (Action Counters Terrorism) awareness training
