Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Group Technology Director to lead and evolve the technology function across a diverse portfolio of businesses. This is a senior leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape long-term tech strategy while supporting immediate commercial objectives across multiple digital platforms.

This is a newly created position at group level, offering the chance to have a meaningful impact on the direction and performance of our technology teams. The role reports to the executive leadership team and will work closely with stakeholders across multiple business units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead group-wide technology strategy aligned with commercial goals and long-term scalability
  • Oversee and support technology delivery across all e-commerce businesses within the group
  • Work closely with leadership to identify, assess and implement strategic technology initiatives
  • Lead and optimise offshore teams, ensuring delivery quality and operational efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement across development, infrastructure, security, and DevOps practices
  • Balance short-term commercial delivery with long-term architecture planning and sustainability
  • Own budgeting, supplier relationships, and team development across the tech function

Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience in a Head of Technology, IT Director, or equivalent leadership role for a minimum of 5 years
  • Background in organisations with revenues of £50m-£200m, and familiarity with the scale-related challenges that come with this environment
  • Strong background in software development and DevOps, with hands-on understanding of AWS, .NET, SQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
  • Demonstrated success in leading, managing, and scaling offshore teams
  • Able to operate strategically while also rolling up sleeves when needed in high-growth or fast-paced situations
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at board and operational levels
