Grounds Maintenance Operative (x2)

Location: Ilkeston. Job type: Full-Time Early Finish Fridays.

Thorn Baker are recruiting for 2 Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join a local council's Green Spaces team based in Ilkeston.

This is a great opportunity for experienced operatives who are confident working across a variety of outdoor environments, helping maintain high standards across public spaces.

Hours

• Monday to Thursday: 07:30 - 16:00
• Friday: 07:30 - 12:30

Pay

• Weeks 0-12: £12.71 per hour
• Weeks 13-52: £13.26 per hour
• Weeks 52+: £13.47 per hour

Duties include:

• Grass cutting across highways, open spaces, and cemeteries
• Operating pedestrian and ride-on mowers (rotary and cylinder)
• Using strimmers, hedge cutters, and other grounds maintenance equipment
• General upkeep of public green spaces
• Working safely and efficiently as part of a team

What we're looking for:

• Experience in grounds maintenance or similar outdoor roles
• PA1/PA6 certification (preferred)
• Competence using mowers, strimmers, and hedge cutters
• Chainsaw certification (desirable)
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and a good team player
