Graduate SEN Teaching assistant

We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and motivated graduates to work as SEN Teaching Assistants across a range of schools and specialist settings in Gloucester. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to gain valuable experience working with children and young people with additional needs, particularly those considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, SEN or other education-based professions.

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils both within the classroom and on a 1:1 or small-group basis. You may support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, challenging behaviour, speech and language difficulties, communication needs and other additional learning needs. Your role will involve helping pupils access their learning, encouraging positive behaviour and engagement, and supporting them to develop confidence, independence and essential social skills.

You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Depending on the needs of the school, you may also assist with interventions, structured activities and individual support plans. The role provides excellent hands-on experience and an opportunity to develop practical skills in communication, behaviour management, relationship building and supporting individual learning needs.

We are looking for graduates who are patient, compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic about working with young people. Previous experience within education or SEN is beneficial but is not essential, and we are particularly interested in graduates who can demonstrate strong communication skills, adaptability and a genuine interest in supporting children and young people. Experience through tutoring, mentoring, sports coaching, youth work, volunteering or other relevant settings would also be valuable.
