PE Limited is a market leader in integrated engineering software solutions, delivering state-of-the-art modelling and optimisation products, primarily to the global oil and gas, mining and renewable industries. Our cutting-edge tools support critical decision making for all of the world's leading energy companies by integrating complex data into powerful, easy-to-use models.
Established in 1990, we have grown into a hugely successful business with more than 450 clients across the world, ranging from small consultancies to major multinational corporations. Our expansion led us to relocating our UK Headquarters from Edinburgh to Guildford in 2025, with further growth anticipated internationally.
With ambitious plans to expand into new industry sectors, this is an exciting time to join us as we grow our brand presence and broaden our impact across the energy landscape.
About this VacancyWe are interested in meeting candidates for engineering and product development roles. There is significant overlap and movement between the teams.
The core task of the engineer is to support existing clients in all aspects of their usage of the software. As the software evolves the role will also evolve (e.g. towards energy transition technologies). The engineer will:
- Assist the development team with research and development on any aspect of company interest, as noted above.
- Provide technical advice and support to clients on all aspects of petroleum engineering (production, reservoir, process, real time systems and research).
- Conduct engineering data processing and analysis, modelling, and general research and development projects.
- Train clients worldwide.
- Exercise a considerable amount of personal initiative and take a pro-active commercial approach to developing the company's business.
- Report to the Technical Director.
The role is suited to engineers who wish to develop their engineering knowledge whilst pursuing an exciting and challenging technical and business career. It is ideally suited to an engineer who has graduated within the last few years, but any experience will be considered. Extensive travel is required.
Product DevelopmentThe product developers are responsible for building the software. A development engineer will:
- Perform day-to-day software development tasks as part of a team.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure that integrated functionality works as required.
- Work with the engineers to support customers, and attend meetings with customers.
- Conduct research and development projects.
- Report to the technical director.
Software development is carried out in C++ (for the calculation engines) or C# (for the digitalisation platform). The full technology stack is available on request, but we do not expect a graduate developer to have expertise across the entirety of this.
Qualifications- Masters or PhD degree in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computing Science plus an associated Batchelor's degree at 2.1 grade (or equivalent), or
- A Batchelor's degree in any of the above subjects at grade 1 (or equivalent)
Our starting salary is around £61,000. Within a comprehensive package we also offer an annual performance bonus, 36 days annual leave (inclusive of public holidays), an excellent pension to which the company will match up to 10% of all employee contributions, private health and dental insurance, and other benefits.
