The Role

As a Graduate Stealth Scientist, you will contribute to the development of advanced materials and technologies that enhance acoustic stealth capabilities in defence and security applications. Day to day, you'll work within a multidisciplinary team to model, test and analyse materials performance in acoustic environments, supporting the delivery of research and development projects from concept through to reporting and customer engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high quality data analysis and interpretation to support project and customer outcomes
  • Develop and apply modelling techniques to assess acoustic performance of materials
  • Plan and execute experimental trials including materials characterisation and testing
  • Support project delivery to schedule, cost and quality requirements
  • Produce technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with health and safety standards
Essential Experience
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to interpret complex data
  • Experience with modelling or simulation tools such as MATLAB or similar
  • Understanding of acoustic physics, wave propagation or materials science principles
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical reporting
  • Good organisation and time management skills with ability to manage tasks effectively
Essential Qualifications
  • Degree in Physics, Applied Physics or closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated application of theoretical physics to practical or project based work

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.
