GP Training Programme Director - BNSSG

An opportunity has arisen for a GP Training Programme Director to support GP training in BNSSG. The role requires working Wednesdays as this is the scheduled day for our GP resident Drs half day release sessions.
Main duties of the jobWork with local TPDs and administrators to facilitate the provision of the half day release course for GPs in training, including managing available funds and resources.
Lead and be responsible for facilitating the provision of education for General Practice trainees in the BNSSG GP training programme. Work with GP educational supervisors and local Primary Care Networks to support GP training across the geographical footprint of the patch.
Collaborate with Educational and Clinical Supervisors to support and help them provide good quality supervision and education for trainees.
Deliver and oversee projects and workstreams to support doctors in training and practice based educators, including induction, one to one support, small group work, developing educational resources, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion within our training programme, and acting as an escalation point for educators and DiTs.
Person Specification Qualifications and Training- General practitioner with MRCGP
- On GP Performers list, engaged in active clinical practice
- Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development (e.g., educator courses, Train the Trainer)
- Approved GP trainer or GP clinical supervisor
- Educational qualification such as Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, Certificate or Diploma in medical education or management
- Experience working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context
- Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education
- Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, related NHS organisations and regulatory bodies
- Knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes, including an understanding of healthcare/multi professional workforce matters, the Gold Guide and educational theory
- Proven experience of regularly working as a clinician in general practice, after completion of vocational training, with current full registration with the GMC
- Displays a proactive approach to CPD as a clinician in their professional role
- Commits to engaging learners with high quality education and exploring opportunities for innovative delivery
- Evidence of understanding of issues surrounding General practice / Training
- Experience providing support to Drs in training and dealing with GP DiTs
- Understanding of Differential attainment and ED&I issues affecting DiTs / Primary Care
- Innovative and inclusive approach to delivering high quality education
- Understanding of current Primary Care issues
- Strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in our offices.
Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.
