GP Partner Post

Devonshire Green and Hanover Medical Centres, Central Sheffield

We are looking for a GP Partner to join our friendly team. We provide excellent primary care and innovative services to a diverse city centre patient population of around 9,000 patients.

Main duties of the job

In accordance with the Practice timetable, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including:

  • Surgery consultations
  • Telephone consultations and queries
  • Visiting patients at home
  • Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
  • Dealing with queries, paperwork, reports, and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems
  • Assessing healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • Developing care plans in consultation with patients, following current Practice protocols
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to/from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes
  • Collecting data for audits and complying with QOF requirements
  • Delivering enhanced services
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated prescriptions
  • Prescribing in accordance with the Practice formulary or generically when appropriate

The post-holder will be expected to undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with the role.

About us

Our practice is supportive and values its dedicated team, which includes four GP Partners, two Salaried GPs, a Physician Associate, Clinical Pharmacist, Physio, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistant, and our management and admin team. We are active members of our Primary Care network, working with people experiencing homelessness and tackling health inequalities.

We offer four to six clinical sessions, with flexibility for the right candidate. We are an active training practice with GP registrars and have a strong tradition of postgraduate medical education, including opportunities to develop teaching skills. We also have attached medical students.

As a research-active practice, applicants can develop research skills. We have strong links with the Deep End network, serving the most socioeconomically deprived areas of Yorkshire and the Humber, passionate about addressing health inequity. We support early career GPs with training and other interests.
