GLIDE House Delivery & Operations Assistant

Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom Deadline: 8th May 2026

GLIDE House is an iconic Grade II listed building in front of Sheffield Arena, originally built as a school in 1874. Consisting of a training academy with space to host various meetings and conferences, plus our very own GLIDE 'social club', with a bar and a kitchen, preparing and serving food to employees across all GLIDE company sites.

We're on the lookout for a Delivery & Operations Assistant to support the GLIDE House team.

The role

You'll be responsible for delivering food and equipment safely and on time to all sites, planning efficient routes, carrying out daily vehicle checks and managing frequent manual handling tasks. Working independently for much of the day, you'll communicate closely with kitchen, operations and site teams, uphold high standards of safety and hygiene, and represent the company professionally across all locations.

Alongside driving duties, you'll take ownership of vending performance by restocking machines, rotating stock, maintaining clean and compliant vending areas and carrying out basic troubleshooting. You'll also support with stock management, event setup and occasional kitchen prep during busy periods.

Key responsibilities include:

Driving

  • Delivering food and catering orders across multiple company sites, ensuring all deliveries are completed accurately and on time
  • Planning and managing delivery routes effectively to meet strict timeframes and service level expectations
  • Loading, securing and unloading goods safely, ensuring items are protected during transit
  • Carrying out regular manual handling, including lifting and moving stock, catering equipment and food containers (this role involves frequent lifting)
  • Conducting daily vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness, cleanliness and compliance
  • Working independently for much of the shift, taking ownership of schedules and problem solving when required
  • Communicating proactively with kitchen, operations and site teams
  • Adhering to health and safety, food hygiene and manual handling regulations at all times
  • Reporting vehicle faults, incidents or delivery discrepancies promptly
  • Representing the company in a professional and positive manner at all sites

Vending

  • Refilling vending machines across multiple sites, ensuring products are fully stocked and well presented
  • Rotating stock, monitoring stock levels, supporting stock takes, and reporting low or fast moving items to support accurate ordering
  • Maintaining clean, organised and compliant vending areas
  • Carrying out basic troubleshooting of vending machines and reporting faults promptly
  • Organising and maintaining stock storage areas to ensure efficiency and accessibility
  • Receiving and checking deliveries
  • Working proactively to minimise waste and improve stock efficiency
  • Assisting with event preparation, including moving furniture, setting up equipment
  • Providing general operational support during events to ensure smooth delivery
  • Supporting wider catering and operations teams during busy periods
  • Comfortable supporting kitchen operations when required
  • Willing to support kitchen team with prep work

Who you are:

You will need a can do attitude in all the areas mentioned above, taking pride in achieving the highest levels of service and able to work well under pressure. You must also have:

  • have a full, clean UK driving licence
  • be confident driving a company van across multiple sites
  • be reliable, punctual and dependable
  • have strong communication skills and a professional manner when interacting with internal teams and customers
  • have a flexible approach to supporting internal events and last minute requests.

Working hours:

The core hours of the position will be Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 6.00pm, and Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm.

Some flexibility will be required to meet the demands of the business, including any GLIDE House events where support may be required. A flexible, 'can do' attitude is therefore paramount.
