Grade: STAFF OFFICER (SO)

Purpose Of The Role

The postholder will lead on the delivery of the PEACEPLUS-funded CALM Project GIS work programme for Loughs Agency. The CALM Project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

Main Areas of Responsibilities Include:

The postholder will work collaboratively with the wider CALM Project team to coordinate project deliverables, targets and objectives. This postholder will manage the GIS requirements of all partners within the project and lead on delivery of support for mapping and technical analysis across all CALM Project Catchments.

The Agency operates in a variety of fields including project work, science-based work, day to day operations and works closely with angling stakeholders and landowners. This role will support staff delivering the CALM Project work within this range of fields. The postholder will provide line management support to Project Team members as required by the Director and may support volunteers and interns at different times.

The postholder will be part of the ongoing development of projects across the CALM Project catchments. This will include all aspects of project delivery from inception, mapping and design coordination, permitting / consents applications and monitoring and evaluation work.

Applicants must demonstrate that they possess the following criteria, by the closing date for applications. Each essential criteria will be applied.

Minimum 2:1 BSc (Hons) Degree in a Scientific subject (e.g. Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Marine Biology or Zoology or other relevant subjects) or equivalent qualification with a significant GIS element included.

2 years' post qualification experience gained in the last 10 years in a spatial analytics role, conservation or fisheries GIS role, or other relevant environmental GIS role.

1 years' experience of managing people with proven ability to lead, motivate and form effective working relationships with team members and others.

Demonstrable experience of managing and maintaining GIS datasets and analytical processes and report writing.

A full current driving licence by the closing date (with not more than 6 penalty points and held for a minimum of 2 years) and access to a car.

Some or all of the following criteria MAY be used in the event of a large number of suitably qualified applications.

Postgraduate qualification in GIS or other relevant subjects.
