Job Purpose

To create, develop, and modify high-precision patterns for complex components, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and optimal manufacturability. This role supports prototype development, production readiness, and continuous improvement of pattern workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop accurate patterns from technical drawings, design specifications, and prototypes.
  • Convert, digitise, and modify patterns across Gerber and Lectra systems, ensuring compatibility and correct format transfer.
  • Create master patterns and templates used in cutting, sewing, assembly, and production processes.
  • Adjust patterns for fit, tolerances, material behaviour, and design changes.
  • Work closely with product development, engineering, and production teams to refine patterns and resolve technical challenges.
  • Conduct pattern grading where required, ensuring consistent sizing and geometry.
  • Support prototype builds by preparing cut files, nesting layouts, and material consumption estimates.
  • Maintain organised, up-to-date digital and physical pattern libraries.
  • Review production feedback to identify and implement pattern improvements.
  • Ensure all patterns meet high standards of accuracy, repeatability, and manufacturability.
  • Follow internal quality and compliance procedures when creating or approving patterns.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Pattern Maker in a technical or precision-focused manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Gerber, Lectra, and digital pattern-making software, including data transfer between systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and production documentation.
  • Understanding of material properties (textiles, foams, composites, or similar).
  • Experience with prototype development or small-batch precision components.
  • Knowledge of CNC cutting workflows, nesting optimisation, or automated cutting tables.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and tolerance requirements.
