Structural Soils a member of the RSK Group, have exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Laboratory technician to join their team based in Castleford, UK.

We are seeking a technician with experience in testing of soil, e.g. water content, Atteberg limits, particle size distribution, and particle density.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out testing on soil and samples according to standard test methods
• Recording accurately the test data produced for analysis
• Conduct routine geotechnical tests following standard test methods or operating procedures.
• Calibrate and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
• Accurately record data and perform basic calculation.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Assist in the documentation and storage of samples.
• Identify and report issues or deviations from procedures.

Person specification:

• Previous geotechnical testing laboratory experience or have an interest in a career as a laboratory technician
• Organised and methodical
• Team player
• Good level of literacy and numeracy
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and sample containers weighing up to 20 kg and if required to stand for short or long periods
