Job Description

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Newham is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Geography Teacher to join the department on a maternity cover basis, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a thriving Humanities faculty within a diverse and dynamic school community.

About the Role

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential for Key Stage 5 teaching depending on experience. You will be expected to plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that promote strong progress and a love of Geography.

You will work closely with colleagues within the Humanities department to share best practice, develop curriculum resources, and support the academic and personal development of all students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Geography lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
  • Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development
  • Support wider school initiatives and enrichment activities
The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Strong subject knowledge in Geography
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities
  • Commitment to raising attainment and improving outcomes for all learners
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • A collaborative and reflective approach to teaching
