Job Description
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Healthcare team at HMP Millsike, a state of the art male Category C prison located in Full Sutton near York. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team that includes one other GP and three prescribers. You will deliver clinics to support Primary Care, Mental Health and Substance Misuse acute needs and long term conditions, and complete administrative tasks and patient referrals to internal and external pathways.

Hours

This is a part time role working 24 hours or six sessions per week. Typical days are: Wednesday 08 00, Thursday 08 00, Friday 08 00.

Salary

You will receive an annual salary up to £125,600 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Legal and Vetting

Candidates must have a legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, expanding your clinical knowledge beyond typical practice or A&E environments.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, and make timely decisions regarding future management.
  • Act as a highly specialist resource for other healthcare team members and for patients, supporting their long term needs.
  • Participate in clinical governance and effectiveness activities, contributing to ongoing quality improvement.
Requirements
  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications
