As a GP, youll be the first point of contact for patients, providing safe, effective and compassionate care. Youll consult with patients on a wide range of health needs, manage ongoing conditions, and support prevention and wellbeing. A key part of the role is building trusted, long-term relationships with patients and families, while working closely with colleagues across the practice and wider healthcare system. Youll balance clinical care with shared responsibilities for administration and contribute to the continuous improvement of services.

We are a well-established practice caring for around 9,300 patients, based in a modern, spacious building that also hosts additional services including hospital dental, podiatry and womens health.
Our team includes:
- 7 GPs, 2 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacist, Mental Health Practitioner, First Contact Physiotherapist, Healthy Living Link Worker, an experienced Practice Nursing team, and a highly effective non-clinical support team.

The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out othertasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels:
- a.Thedelivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
- b.Theprovision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
- c.Genericprescribing adhering to local and national guidance
- d. Monitor and ensure the safe storage,rotation and disposal of medicines
- e.Implementand evaluate individual specialised treatment plans for chronic diseasepatients
- f. Demonstrate effective communication skills, supporting people in makingdecisions, planning care or seeking to make a positive change
- g. Identify, manage and support patients atrisk of developing long-term conditions, preventing adverse effects to thepatients health
- h. Maintain accurate clinical records inconjunction with extant legislation and to ensure SNOMED CT codes are usedeffectively
- i. Develop and implement robust governance systems and contribute to practice targets (QOF,Enhanced services etc.), complying with local and regional guidance
- j.Activelyengage in peer review to inform own and others practice, formulating andimplementing strategies to act on learning and make improvements
- k. Support the team in dealing withclinical emergencies
- l. Support the team with all safeguardingmatters in accordance with local and national policies
- m. Understand practice and local policiesfor substance abuse and addictive behaviour, referring patients appropriately
- n. Deliver opportunistic health promotionwhere appropriate
- o.Actively seekfeedback and involvement from individuals, families, carers, communities andcolleagues in the co-production of service improvements
- p.Processingof administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescriptionrequests and other associated administrative tasks
- q.Ona rotational basis, undertake duty doctor role
- r.Maintainaccurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy andguidance
- s.Workcollaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
- t.Adhereto best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
- u.Acceptdelegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas)
- v.Attendand contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
- w.Contributeeffective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinicalgovernance and training
- x.Ensurecompliance with the appraisal process
- y.Prepareand complete the revalidation process
- z.Committo self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional developmentacross the practice team
- aa. Support the training of GP registrars, medicalstudents from all clinical disciplines
- bb. Support the partners in achieving thestrategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income andreduce expenditure
- cc. Review and always adhere to practiceprotocols and policies
- dd. Encourage collaborative working,liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuousimprovement
In addition to the primary responsibilities,the salaried GP may be requested to:
- a.Participatein practice audits as requested by the audit lead
- b.Participatein local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
- c.Participatein the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structuredapproach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA)
- d.Liaisewith clinical rota manager and maintain an effective clinical staff rotaensuring all clinics are staffed appropriately. Working flexibly to providecover during annual leave and sickness.
- e.Participatein local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
- f.Supportand participate in shared learning within the organisation
- g.Continuallyreview clinical practices, responding to national policies and initiativeswhere appropriate
- h.Participatein the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structuredapproach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA)
- i.Commensuratewith their role, support the development of clinical services within theorganisation, liaising with external agencies and professional organisations asrequired
- General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
- Vocational Training Certificate JCPTGP
- Full GMC registration
- National Performers List registration
- Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
- Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
- Experience of working in a primary care environment
- Experience of continued professional development
- Experience of QOF and clinical audit
- Minimum of two years as a salaried GP in the UK
- Experience of medicines management
- Experience of ICB initiatives
