Job Description
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Leeds, a category B men's prison based in Leeds, Yorkshire. HMP Leeds is a remand prison with a fast-paced healthcare department that provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In this role you will be working on evening receptions supporting the intake of new patients, including support with same-day medications, acute needs and substance misuse withdrawal plans.

Hours

Monday and Tuesday 5pm-9pm

Salary

This position is part time; you'll receive an annual salary up to £125,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience

Main duties

Our General Practitioners are valued and respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. As a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Deliver first-class healthcare to a diverse group of patients; you will have the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn't usually experience within practice or A&E
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients' requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management
  • Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team on site, with active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities

Qualifications required
  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
