General Operative/Labourer

We are currently looking for general operatives to join a busy recycling centre on an ad-hoc basis. This role offers flexibility and is ideal for those who are looking for work as and when required, rather than a full-time permanent position.

The main purpose of the role is to support the site in achieving a higher quality of recycling by helping to sort commercial waste. As part of the team, you will play a key role in improving recycling efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

• Picking recyclable items from a moving conveyor belt and segregating materials
• General housekeeping and cleaning duties at the end of each shift
• Assisting on the yard with general tasks
• Potential opportunity for future training on machinery and forklifts (for those interested and available for longer-term roles)

Please note: The environment can be dusty, but face masks are provided before every shift.

Requirements

• Perform general labour tasks as assigned by the supervisor
• Assist with the setup and operation of machinery and equipment
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
• Load and unload materials from trucks or conveyors
• Sort and package products according to specifications
• Inspect products for defects or damages
• Maintain accurate records of production and inventory
• Collaborate with team members to meet production goals

Key Skills:

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team
• Strong attention to detail
• Good physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks
• Basic math skills for counting and sorting materials
