Job Description
General Maintenance Operative

Salary: £30,000-£35,000

Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday (08:00-16:30)

We're recruiting for a General Maintenance Operative to join a well-established and expanding business within the property and self storage sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong trade experience who enjoys taking ownership of repairs, maintenance and site improvements.

Working across a varied portfolio of sites, including self storage facilities, office complexes and retail parades, you'll play a key role in keeping buildings safe, functional and well maintained.

The Role

As General Maintenance Operative, you'll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance works across multiple locations. Duties will include:

  • General building repairs, including roofing and cladding
  • Plumbing
  • Joinery
  • Tiling
  • Painting and decorating
  • Carpeting
  • Paving
  • Drainage works
  • Grounds maintenance and site clearance
  • Site pressure washing
  • Furniture assembly
  • Furniture removal
About You
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a building trade or property maintenance role
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating
  • Cladding and roofing experience
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workload to meet in-house KPI/SLA timescales
  • Competent in using IT systems to record work undertaken and associated expenditure
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures, including identifying hazards and carrying out point of work risk assessments
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively and minimise disruption
