Your Role as GL Accountant
Job description:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented GL Accountant to join our finance team to grow together. The ideal candidate will support, operate and monitor the end-to-end accounting process, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements. The GL Accountant plays a critical role in the month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and supporting internal and external audits.
Key responsibilities:
- Operate month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the General Ledger by reviewing, reconciling, and correcting any discrepancies.
- Perform detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, finding and resolving any variances on time.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, following accounting standards (Dutch GAAP, IFRS).
- Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes, recommending efficiencies where possible to streamline the Book-to-Report cycle.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial transactions.
- Work closely with other departments (internal and shared service center) to resolve discrepancies and support correct reporting.
- Provide ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as needed for decision-making.
Qualifications
What You Bring:
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on book-to-report processes.
- Ability in accounting software (e.g., SAP), MS Excel and PowerBI
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an international (corporate) environment preferred.
- Knowledge of automation tools or ERP system integration.
