General Handyman

NRL is currently recruiting for a Handyman for work on a new build commercial project in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.
Must have: CSCS Card (required); Relevant trade experience or qualifications (desirable); Manual Handling Training (desirable); First Aid (desirable).
Duration: Ongoing (project completion estimated April 2028). Start: 3rd August 2026.
Key Responsibilities- Basic carpentry
- Making good (patching, sealing, minor repairs)
- Fixing brackets, supports, and fixtures
- Assisting with installation adjustments
- Support electrical and mechanical teams with minor works and remedial tasks
- Assist in preparing work areas and ensuring they are safe and ready for installation activities
- Perform snagging and finishing works to support quality completion
- Support with moving materials, equipment, and tools as required
- Maintain high standards of site housekeeping, ensuring work areas are clean, safe, and organised
- Attend daily site briefings and follow instructions from supervisors and site management
- Assist with site setup and temporary works, including signage, barriers, and protection
- Carry out basic quality checks using the Dalux system via iPad if required
- Identify and report defects, damage, or maintenance issues
- Assist with general site logistics or labouring duties during busy periods
- Support project teams to ensure works progress efficiently and without delay
- Adhere to all site health & safety procedures and regulations
- Ensure all work is carried out using safe systems of work
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times
- Follow manual handling best practices
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety inspections, and site briefings
- Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or near misses immediately
- Maintain safe and tidy work areas in line with site standards
- Previous experience in a handyman, maintenance, or general construction role
- Basic knowledge of multiple trades (carpentry, fixing, finishing works)
- Ability to carry out a wide range of small tasks independently
- Problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced construction environment
- Good communication and reliability
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm.
Pay: Umbrella or PAYG. Pay rates are negotiable.
