Job Description

This warm and welcoming family is looking for a child-friendly and pet-friendly live-in housekeeper. They live in a large 5-bedroom home in Radlett, Hertfordshire, north of London. The property includes a cinema room and a swimming pool. The family consists of Mum, Dad, and three children, aged 9-15 years, along with three small dogs. The household is busy, lively, with guests arriving regularly, but it is also a fun and friendly environment to be part of. They are seeking a housekeeper to manage household duties and become part of the home and family - someone warm, proactive, and looking for a long-term position.

You will work Monday to Friday, 08.00-18.00, with some flexibility due to family daily dynamics. Additional hours will be discussed and paid as overtime. There will be generous breaks throughout the day, around family requirements. Optional five day week, including Saturday and Sunday, with two days off during the week is also available.

Your private accommodation will be located on the top floor and include an en suite bedroom. All meals will be provided.

Key responsibilities
  • Perform all daily housekeeping duties to a high standard, including deep cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitising bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Manage laundry and ironing, ensuring clothes and linens are clean, pressed, and organised. All bed linen is washed and ironed at a dry cleaner.
  • Prepare light, healthy meals for the children and occasionally for the parents.
  • Assist with morning routines - helping the children get ready for school and ensuring uniforms, sports kits, and other items are prepared for the next day.
  • Care for the family's three dogs - feeding, letting them out, and occasional walking.
  • Assist with entertaining, including preparation, serving, and tidying up afterwards.
  • Receive deliveries and liaise with contractors or tradespeople as required.
  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning products and supplies, reporting shortages or replenishing as needed.
  • Undertake ad hoc household duties to ensure the smooth running of the home.
The ideal candidate will have
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in a high end private household.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple housekeeping tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Basic cooking skills, with the ability to prepare nutritious meals for children.
  • Fluent English and full right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS (update) and Paediatric First Aid.
  • Pet friendly.
  • Hardworking, proactive, well organised with a positive 'can do' attitude.
  • Trustworthy, discreet, and reliable, with excellent references.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly with children and other household members.
  • Driving preferred but not essential.

The family takes pride in treating their staff exceptionally well, offering a supportive and respectful work environment. This role is perfect for a personable and detail oriented housekeeper seeking to become part of a welcoming household.

Pay: £46,800 gross per annum, with mutually agreed overtime to be agreed with the client.
