Job Description

Front of House / Bar & Restaurant / Hospitality Manager - Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire £28-32k for 37.5 hours per week - including evenings and weekends Paid breaks + staff discount + training & development + potential for career progression

Nestled in the historic heart of Aylesbury, The King's Head boasts roots stretching back to the 15th century. As one of England's oldest coaching inns, we provide a place to drink and dine within beautifully preserved medieval architecture. Proudly operated by The Chiltern Brewery, we offer an exceptional selection of fine English ales and craft beers brewed with locally sourced ingredients. We are a cherished community landmark and very popular with both locals and visitors alike.

As our Front of House Manager, you'll genuinely shape the culture and performance of our Front of House team. If you enjoy developing people, seeing them grow, and building a team that's known for exceptional service, you'll find this a tremendously rewarding opportunity. You'll work hands on in the team and lead by example to create a welcoming atmosphere for our customers and ensure the smooth running of our bar and dining areas.

You'll provide outstanding guest experiences and use your high level of product and customer knowledge to enhance sales in a positive way. You'll also take ownership of Front of House performance, looking for opportunities to increase sales, encourage repeat visits and contribute to the commercial success of the business.

Your excellent people skills will enable you to successfully recruit, manage and develop a team of ten (and growing) bar and waiting staff, maintaining a great working environment and getting the best from every individual. You'll work closely and collaboratively with our Head Chef and our Office Coordinator to ensure everything's done right - from cashing up, compliance and security to cleanliness, waste reduction and stock management. Good communication and teamwork is key to the success of our business.

So, what's in it for you?
  • Not just another chain - a job with more meaning, where you take pride in what you do
  • Working directly with the owners, bringing our vision to life
  • Excellent support from our Office Coordinator, reducing the admin burden on you
  • Our lovely historic surroundings and wonderful customers
  • Great food and great beer - with a great staff discount, too
  • Reasonable working hours and paid breaks
  • Training and development to help you grow with our business
  • Opportunities to discover and reach your potential - we have exciting plans for the future

The successful candidate will be warm, cheerful, approachable and naturally people focused. You'll lead from the floor, care about maintaining high standards and take a firm, consistent and fair approach. You'll also have:

  • Previous experience within a customer-focused hospitality environment
  • Previous experience of managing a team - including developing others
  • Strong track record of providing great customer experiences
  • Good communication and collaboration skills - even when under pressure
  • Good problem solving and decision making skills - with sound judgement
  • Professional approach to your work

Our aim is to have someone in place by the end of October.
