Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a Fostering Recruitment Officer to join our outstanding fostering service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in recruiting and supporting foster carers to ensure safe, high-quality foster placements for children and young people.

Temporary fixed term for 12 months, full time, 37 hours per week.

Are you passionate about making a difference for children and young people in care?

The postholder will support prospective foster carers from initial expression of interest through to point of approval. This will include carrying out engagement and re engagement tasks, initial screening, home visits and pre application support.

The postholder will work closely with the wider Fostering Team. The postholder will write reports, maintain and update systems, records and databases and deliver excellent customer service at all times. The postholder will be a representative of the Fostering Team at regular meetings with colleagues in the Fostering Service and Social Care.

The postholder will be responsible for developing and maintaining databases. They will maintain key lines of communication with leaders and ensure data is accurate and demonstrates pre application activity and trends across the service to inform further discussions within the higher council structure.

The postholder will be an active and present worker within the fostering community by attending support groups and visiting carers to build and establish good working relationship with RMBC foster carers.

They will need to be able to evidence creativity and flexibility when using limited resources available to them. They will need to be able to work under their own initiative, be able to engage in professional challenge and negotiate with colleagues and foster carers to ensure the needs of children in care are being met to achieve placement stability and continuity of care.
