- Conduct forensic examinations of victims of rape and sexual assault, adhering to the highest standards of practice as set by professional guidelines.
- Participate in strategy discussions to plan and provide care tailored to each victim's needs.
- Respond promptly to requests for forensic examinations and attend the Sexual Assault Referral Centre or other designated venues as required.
- Treat all clients with empathy and respect, ensuring their experience is as comfortable as possible.
- Collaborate with Crisis Workers and Specially Trained Officers to provide a holistic approach to care that empowers clients.
- Obtain informed consent from clients for all examinations and procedures, respecting their autonomy and comfort.
- Collect and document relevant forensic samples and evidence, maintaining the integrity of the chain of custody.
- Assess needs for aftercare, including risks of pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, blood borne viruses, mental health issues, and safeguarding.
- Prepare detailed reports and legal documents as needed, including written police statements and court appearances as a professional witness.
- Maintain and update professional training and qualifications, attending supervision and training events to ensure compliance and excellence in service provision.
