The Role

As a Food Service Assistant, you will be a crucial member of our catering and care team, helping to ensure that our residents receive nutritious and enjoyable meals in a safe, clean, and pleasant environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments to residents, adhering to dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in all food service areas, including dining rooms, kitchens, and equipment.
  • Support the catering team with stock control, food storage, and waste management in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner, providing support and assistance during mealtimes as required.
  • Report any concerns regarding residents' nutritional needs or health to the appropriate staff members.
  • Follow all relevant policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents and staff.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or a care environment is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
  • A genuine interest in working with older people and supporting their wellbeing.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team.
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety principles; willingness to undertake Food Hygiene certification is required.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
