About the role:

Position: Food Production Operative / Cook at Sodexo, RAF Brize Norton, Carterton, OX18 3LX.

As a Cook in a café or digital food operation, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality food efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role involves preparing and cooking pre-ordered meals, ensuring consistency, presentation, and food safety standards are met. You will play a key role in maintaining smooth kitchen operations while supporting a modern, technology-driven service model.

What you'll do:
  • Prepare, cook, and present a variety of food items in line with recipe cards and cooking methods
  • Manage and fulfil all orders
  • Ensure food is prepared quickly and accurately to meet service time targets
  • Monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients, and ensure proper storage following food safety regulations
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen and food preparation areas
  • Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including HACCP procedures
  • Minimise food waste and control portion sizes to maintain cost efficiency
  • Assist with deliveries, checking quality and storing stock correctly
  • Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and report faults or maintenance issues promptly
What we're looking for: Essential:
  • Experience in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level
  • One of the following qualifications (or equivalent):
    • BSc (Catering)
    • MHCIM
    • HND
    • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2
    • NVQ Level 2 or 3
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standards precisely
Desirable:
  • Experience working within a military environment
  • IOSH qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a customer-facing role
  • CIEH Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
