Food Microbiologist

Matrix Recruitment is recruiting a FoodMicrobiologist for our manufacturing client based in South Kildare.

This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced Microbiologist with strong hands-on laboratory experience, particularly in traditional microbiology testing and environmental monitoring.

Easily accessible from Kildare, Laois and Carlow areas.

Your New Role

• Carry out microbiology testing on raw materials, production samples and finished products.
• Perform plating, culturing, incubation and colony counting.
• Carry out environmental monitoring and swabbing within the manufacturing facility.
• Prepare samples, media and dilations for microbiological testing.
• Review, interpret and accurately record test results.
• Investigate unusual or out-of-specification results and support corrective actions.
• Follow GMP, GLP, SOPs and food safety procedures.
• Support quality audits and work with external laboratories where required.

What You Need

• Degree in Microbiology, Biology or related discipline with a strong microbiology focus.
• Minimum 3 years' hands-on food microbiology experience.
• Strong practical experience in plating, culturing, incubation and colony counting.
• Experience with environmental monitoring and swabbing.
• Ability to interpret microbiology results and support investigations.
• Good understanding of GMP, GLP and laboratory procedures.
• Experience within a food or beverage manufacturing environment.

Please note: This role requires practical traditional microbiology experience. Candidates with predominantly PCR/molecular testing or packaging QC experience alone will not meet the requirements.
