Job Description
Join Our Transport Team and Keep Our Growing Fleet On The Road!
We're looking for an experienced Fleet Mechanic to join our in-house workshop team and help keep our fleet of over 140 commercial and refrigerated vehicles on the road.
If you enjoy getting stuck into diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance, and take pride in keeping vehicles safe, compliant and running at their best, we'd love to hear from you.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll be working across a varied fleet, diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, completing inspections and helping minimise vehicle downtime.
What You'll Be Doing
Servicing, maintaining and repairing commercial and refrigerated vehicles
Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and technical faults
Carrying out Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs)
Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections
Ensuring vehicles meet DVSA standards and remain roadworthy
Working with external repair providers when specialist work is required
Keeping accurate maintenance, inspection and compliance records
Helping identify ways to improve fleet reliability and workshop efficiency
What We're Looking For
You'll be an experienced mechanic who can work independently, solve problems and take ownership of keeping vehicles in top condition.
You'll ideally have:
NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent vehicle maintenance qualification
Experience maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles
Experience carrying out PMI inspections
A good understanding of DVSA requirements and vehicle maintenance standards
Experience working on refrigerated vehicles
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
A full UK driving licence
A proactive approach to safety, quality and compliance
It Would Be Great If You Also Have
HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence
MOT Tester qualification
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to be part of a growing transport operation where your skills make a real difference every day. You'll be joining a team that values quality workmanship, practical problem-solving and keeping the fleet running smoothly for our customers.
Work life balance is important to us and we want you to spend time with family, friends and doing things you enjoy not just work. This is why we only expect you to work 238 shifts across the year, rather than the traditional 260. That means you get an extra 22 days off across the year plus 30 days holiday.
We also offer:
A subsidised restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner all at a reduced cost
Our discounted staff purchase scheme on over 4,000 products
Enhanced family friendly policies
Cycle to work and EV Salary Sacrifice Scheme
Internal Mental Health First Aiders
Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) including external mental health support and retail discounts
We are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on age, disability, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation.
If you require any adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know.
