First Aider

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated First Aider to join our school team on a full-time, fixed-term basis until the end of the academic year. This is a vital role supporting the health and wellbeing of our pupils, with a particular focus on monitoring and caring for students with diabetes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first aid support to pupils and staff in line with school policies
• Closely monitor pupils with diabetes throughout the school day
• Administer medication, including insulin, in accordance with care plans and medical guidance
• Maintain accurate records of medical interventions and incidents
• Liaise with parents, healthcare professionals, and school staff regarding pupil health needs
• Ensure medical supplies are well stocked and stored safely
• Promote a safe and healthy school environment

Essential Requirements

• Valid First Aid qualification (e.g. First Aid at Work or equivalent)
• Proven experience supporting individuals with diabetes (including blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration)
• Confidence in administering medication and following care plans
• Strong organisational and record keeping skills
• Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergencies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable

• Previous experience working in a school or with children
• Additional healthcare or medical training
