Job Title: Fire Risk Assessment Remedial Works Project Engineer

Ref: Bristol

Pay rate: £26.06 per hour PAYE

Role length: Anticipated 1 - 2 months

Additional requirement: Driving Licence

The role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to identify remedial works from the Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) report, organise works required and consult with delivery teams to progress the FRA action within Housing Delivery dwellings, buildings or land and provide technical consultancy to all other non-technical staff in Housing Delivery.

You will drive forward compliance and reporting as well as advising on future legislation changes to fire safety regulations alarm installation and maintenance and in particular fire safety.

You will be a qualified construction professional with proven experience managing M&E installation and maintenance projects, ensuring quality, safety, and budget compliance. You will be skilled in project design, health and safety (including CDM), stakeholder collaboration, and communication, with a commitment to sustainability and staying current with industry standards and innovations.

Key responsibilities
  • Own, develop, plan, monitor and be responsible and accountable for all aspects of the project, programme, or service from end-to-end and champion the experience of the customer to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Achieve the programme's objectives within the defined schedules, costs, and performance parameters
  • Prepare design drawings, specifications, schedules of rates and scopes of work for contracts
  • Conduct site inspections, surveys and progress reports; raise orders, certify payments, and maintain accurate job records
  • Advise on forms of building contracts, consultant agreements and procurement documentation
  • Conduct inspections of fire safety equipment, diagnosing and specifying required repairs, replacements or improvements
  • Apply Prince2 (or similar) project methodology to set up programme structures, secure resources, and ensure quality control and accurate reporting
  • Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety, CDM and Fire Safety Regulations; undertake site inspections and ensure legal obligations are met
  • Champion excellent communication and customer engagement throughout all stages of projects, ensuring transparency and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor contractor and in-house performance to ensure delivery quality, value for money, and a strong focus on customer experience
  • Support the line manager with financial reporting, budget control, profiling and forecasting to ensure effective cost management
  • Maintain accurate asset and project data, ensuring databases and documentation are up to date and securely stored
What the client is looking for
  • HNC in Construction Management, Building Surveying, or equivalent experience
  • Proven track record in managing installation and maintenance contracts-delivering M&E programmes on time, within budget, and to high quality standards
  • Skilled in preparing scopes of work, specifications, drawings, and feasibility studies for fire alarm and related projects; adept at evaluating options and presenting clear recommendations
  • Strong grasp of Health & Safety and CDM regulations within the construction industry
  • Innovative, analytical problem-solver with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges
  • Ability to build good working relationships
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Committed to staying current with British Standards, best practices, and technological or legislative developments, with a focus on low-energy and sustainable construction solutions
