Job role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Financial Crime specialist to join our Financial Crime Operations team. You will monitor and analyze transactions to detect and prevent suspicious activity related to money laundering, fraud, and other financial crimes. Responsibilities include customer risk assessments, triage, and in-depth enhanced due diligence (EDD) reviews.
This role requires a strong understanding of financial regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Working hours:
This is a hybrid role, working in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Your shifts will be 7.5 hours between 8 am and 8 pm, Monday to Friday, with one weekend day every other week remotely. If you work a weekend day, you will get a day off during the week.
A day in the life:
- Transaction Monitoring: Review and analyze customer transactions to identify suspicious activity, including money laundering, fraud, and terrorist financing. Experience investigating Mule alerts is desirable.
- SARs: Prepare and submit Suspicious Activity Reports accurately and promptly.
- Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD): Conduct investigations into high-risk customers, understanding their Source of Wealth and Funds to ensure consistency with their profiles.
- Customer Risk Assessment Cases and Reviews: Perform EDD for PEPs, high-net-worth individuals, and customers flagged by legal or law enforcement agencies.
- Phone-Based Interaction: Handle customer interactions via phone, addressing inquiries and providing support with high professionalism and communication skills.
About you:
- Experience in financial crime, fraud, or transaction monitoring within banking or financial services.
- Knowledge of UK financial crime regulations, including POCA, MLR, and FCA guidelines.
- Familiarity with transaction monitoring systems.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize effectively.
- Understanding of banking products and services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Organized and methodical with complex investigations.
- Decision-making confidence and escalation skills.
- Desirable: ACAMS or ICA certification and experience in a regulated UK financial institution.
